Before starting the 16 week training session in February, we need to get a clear understanding on how fit we are. To do this we already decided in 2023, to join Egmond Wandel Marathon for a 22km hike. A challenging course with a lot of changing hiking surfaces. Along with about 5000 others and amazing weather conditions (clear skies with 8°C (=46°F), the route took us over sandy beach, through the dunes, passing some populated areas before entering a the forest and then back over the sand dunes to the finish line.




Beforehand everybody decided to walk at their own pace in which group divided into smaller groups. But the good news is, we all made it and everybody seemed very satisfied with the first result of their fitness! Okay, let's admit it, the level of enthusiasm might still change when we wake up tomorrow, but lets deal with that when we get there.
