We are already in the second week of training and so far everything is going well. Despite the fact that I currently have to travel a little more for work, I can keep the discipline to continue training. Secondly, the good thing about long-distance training is that you get to go outside, breathe fresh air and clear your head, so that always helps. And at the same time, you get to see the sights of the area we live in, which frankly is sometimes pretty amazing.
Last week we started with a easy 10km at the Almere Kemphaan area. A small forest with a real mountain at the end. Okay, admitted that if you are from outside the Netherlands, you're more likely to call this a speed bump, but for us it's a real mountain :-). Funnily enough the route to the top was closed because it was too dangerous due to slippery roads caused by the heavy rainfall of the past few days.
This week we increased the distance to 12km and stayed in Almere to do the Noorderplassen trial. After a while, we started to think we had walked to Texas, as we suddenly came face to face with some longhorns, who where equally surprised to see us :-). After some nice greetings, we proceeded with our hike. Since we have no control over the weather in June, we want to have as many different weather types as weather as possible during our training, and today we got what we asked for with very cold winds, some rain showers and even some sunshine at the end. So let's just say it was a great mix.
