Because Nancy was still full of uncertainty at the beginning of training whether climbing the Alpe d'Huez would be possible with her knee, we agreed with Ryan that he would train with us as a backup as a possible replacement for Nancy.
That now appears to have been a golden decision, as he will be fully fit, ready and eager to climb the mountain during my participation. Even though I would have loved to do it myself, it makes me incredibly proud to be replaced by my own son. And without having even set foot on the mountain, he is already the hero of the day for me.
Fortunately, Nancy's knee gradually improved and a week before departure she seems to be fit and eager to start.
Wherever I am at that moment, I will be proudly cheering for both of you
Go Nancy & Ryan!!
