After a very emotional and hectic week with many ups and downs, I am proud to announce that both Ryan and Nancy made it to the finish line of the charity climb. All other team members also successfully completed the climb, some even several times.
The entire team left for their first (and for some, the only) trek at 5 a.m., with a valley temperature of about 14 degrees Celcius (59 Fahrenheit). The weather remained dry and warm until noon. It wasn't until 1 p.m. that it started raining and the second or, for some, even third hike up the mountain became more challenging.
Our team ended up raising the amazing amount of €35,118, contributing to the final result of €18,017,606 for the event. Which is a record that hopefully will be beaten next year!
Now is the time to rest, process and reflect. And I take a big bow to the thousands of volunteers, sponsors, donors and everyone who cheered and supported the magical climbers of the Alpe d'Huez 2024
